Our client, a boutique real estate firm located in the Greater Boston area, is seeking a talented and experienced Property Accountant to join their Finance team. As a Property Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of property accounting, including general ledger accounting, cash management, month-end and year-end closings, and accounts payable invoicing. You must have at least 3 years of experience in property accounting, with proficiency in MRI and MS Office Suite. Responsibilities:
- Manage the general ledger accounting for all properties, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Conduct cash management activities, including reconciling bank accounts, monitoring cash balances, and preparing cash flow projections.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closings for all properties, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial statements.
- Process monthly billing for tenants, ensuring accuracy and completeness of invoices.
- Manage accounts payable invoicing for all properties, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices.
- Provide support to property managers and other departments as needed, including assisting with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct regular audits of financial records to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and make recommendations for process improvements as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting or related field.
- Proficiency in MRI and MS Office Suite required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with month-end and year-end closings.
- Experience with accounts payable invoicing and billing processes.
